Signature Programs

Columbia Connections—Experiential learning program that connects students of all ages with leaders from the academic, cultural, scientific, non-profit and business communities in Columbia for real-world application of what they’ve learned in the classroom.

PEAK—Heathwood’s signature outdoor leadership and adventure program which provides students in every division with hands-on opportunities in wilderness exploration, environmental education and stewardship, and leadership development.

Science Programs—The Tinker Lab, Life Sciences Lab, and Honors Science Research Program provide learners of every age the opportunity to experience and analyze the world around them and challenge themselves conduct independent research projects.

SEED— Environmental education involving faculty, parent, student teams that organizes and shares environmental efforts championed by the Heathwood community.

Senior Exhibition—Yearlong scholarly research project pursued by every Heathwood senior. Students write a lengthy research paper and demonstrate mastery of their topic through a public presentation.

Visual Art Concentration—Upper School program that encourages the dedicated pursuit of excellence in the visual arts through extensive arts coursework and extended studio time.

Winterim—Weeklong experiential learning program that allows Upper School students to pursue an interest that broadens their educational experience. Students may complete internships or short courses, perform community service, or travel nationally or internationally.
