| 8th grade
students began their integrated arts/humanities study of China with a
visit from Tan Ye, a University of South Carolina professor. Above, Prof.
Ye is pictured with one of his paintings displayed in the new IS/MS building.
Prof. Ye demonstrates the art of Chinese ink painting, teaching the students
about the symbolism and techniques involved in this ancient art. Later
in the study, each student will create a final painting of his/her own,
defending the subject matter and symbolic meaning in the writing portion
of this project. |
