Native Americans visit 2nd Grade

| On November 8, the second and third grades were honored with a visit from our Native American friends. Dr. Will Goins, CEO of th Eastern Cherokee and Southern Iroquois United Tribes of South Carolina told the students exciting stories of his heritage. From the Tuscarora tribe, drummer Cameron Locklear and Lamar Ironhorse, a talented Hoop dancer, wowed the children with their musical skills and Mario Hernandez performed a Northern Traditional dancer. The visit was an enriching experience and a wonderful beginning to 2nd grade's study of Native Americans, an important component social studies curriculum. |
