On Friday, December 2, Mrs. Cindy Nord and members of her family gathered with Heathwood Hall friends for a special ceremony celebrating the official naming of the Cindy and Evan Nord Intermediate/Middle School.   Mr. Tobin Cassels, Chairman of the Heathwood Hall Board of Trustees, presented Mrs. Nord with a framed copy of the resolution adopted by the Board at its November meeting:

Whereas, over the course of twenty-five years, Cindy and Evan Nord diligently served Heathwood Hall Episcopal School as parents, alumni parents, grandparents, members of the Board of Visitors, trustee of the Heathwood Hall Foundation and members of the Francis Marion Weston Society, and

Whereas they transformed the nature and definition of philanthropy for the entire Columbia community, and

Whereas Evan Nord modeled, and Cindy continues to model, generosity, integrity and compassion, especially for children and those less fortunate than themselves, and

Whereas Cindy and Evan Nord inspired support for the Endowment of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and strengthened it through their own generosity, and

Whereas future generations of Heathwood Hall families will continue to be grateful for and to benefit from the wisdom, foresight and generosity of Cindy and Evan Nord,

Therefore be it resolved that the Heathwood Hall Intermediate and Middle School, in memory of Evan and as tribute to the kindness and generosity of both Cindy and Evan, be named the Cindy and Evan Nord Intermediate and Middle School.
