Boys' Cross Country Earns Back to Back Region Titles!
"Back-to-Back" was the cry from the Heathwood Hall boys' cross country team after they won their second consecutive SCISA Region 1-AAA Championship!
Stephen Ridley finished in first place and won individual honors with a time of 17:47 over the 5,000 meter course. In addition to Ridley, Reed Pansegrau, Trey Edmonds, and Walker Comer all finished in the top 10 and earned All-Region status.
The Highlanders, who have been hampered by illnesses, got two of their top runners back recently, and were able to hold off Cardinal Newman, who finished just eight points back. Ben Lippen finished in third place, followed by Hammond and Augusta Christian. Charles Williamson, Robert Summers and Robert Petit also turned in solid performances and contributed to the Heathwood Hall victory.
As they prepare for the state championship, the Highlanders are ranked second in the most recent SCISA 1-AAA coaches’ poll.
