Visiting Authors Captivate Heathwood Hall

Ms. Holbrook and Mr. Salinger, a husband and wife team, have written poems and instructional books for teachers for the past 20 years. Both authors followed other careers, she as a corporate writer and he as an engineer, for many years until they decided to pursue writing and performing full time. They have performed internationally as well as in the U. S.

The poets gave a high-energy performance for an assembly of the entire I/MS first period followed by working with each grade individually through the day. The students learned how to brainstorm ideas on a topic and then to use those ideas to create a poem.
