Alex Bueno Earns Recognition, Named to Team of the Week

Not only did Alex Bueno have a tremendous game against Cardinal Newman on Senior Night, he earned a place on the The State's Team of the Week, and is set to be recognized by the Columbia Touchdown Club on Friday, November 11th.

On a night when Heathwood Hall needed a win most - to clinch the final berth of the playoffs - Alex Bueno came through with a huge performance.

Along with Heathwood quarterback Will Detwiler, who also had a great night, Alex pulled in 130 receiving yards and grabbed one touchdown on offense.

On the other side of the ball, Alex racked up one forced fumble, two tackles, an interception, and broke up three passes. On special teams, the senior had 70 return yards and a blocked extra point. In total, his efforts landed him on The State newspaper's Team of the Week!

In addition to a fantastic Senior Night and Team of the Week honors, Alex is also scheduled to be recognized by the Columbia Touchdown Club at Seawell's on November 11th.

Reflecting on Alex's effort and accomplishments was his coach, Jon Wheeler, "Alex is a true competitor that fights to get better every day. He has done some great things for us on the football field this year. The most amazing thing is that Alex has never really played football before - other than one time in 8th grade. He is what you want in a player; I just wish we had him for another year."
