Heathwood Wins Columbia Green 2011 Neighborhood Grant Award
In addition to being recognized as award winners, Heathwood Hall will receive $2000 for their continued support of green initiatives.
Columbia Green issued the following release:
Columbia Green is happy to acknowledge a 2011 Neighborhood Grant Award to Heathwoood Hall Episcopal School. Our familiar green sign can be seen in medians, gateways and public spaces all over the Greater Columbia area. However, those with the Grant Award topper are special. This addition to the basic Columbia Green sign indicates significant effort—a good plan that is sustainable for years to come, attention to locale and soil conditions, and a spirit of teamwork to make the plan a reality. The entrance garden funded by a $2000 grant is a tribute to Todd Beasley’s knowledge of horticulture, Heathwood’s interest in expanding the educational experience of its students, and a model of xeriscaping for all to follow. It is our second grant to the school, always a worthy recipient.
Columbia Green is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all residents of the Greater Columbia area through beautification and education. Our grants are funded solely through membership dollars. Please join us in our efforts at Columbiagreen.org
Below are a selection of shots from past projects around the Heathwood campus, aimed at beautifying our green space while educating our students on conservation, sustainability and environmental stewardship.
