Help us Deck the Hall for Harvest Hope Food Bank

Heathwood Hall Episcopal School is proud to announce it is hosting its 2nd Annual Deck the Hall 5k Cross Country Race and Reindeer Fun Run on Saturday, December 10, 2011, to benefit the Harvest Hope Food Bank.

During last year’s inaugural event, Heathwood Hall and its Deck the Hall supporters successfully raised $3,000 for Harvest Hope Food Bank. This year, families, friends, and supporters are once again encouraged to join Deck the Hall this holiday season for this very worthwhile cause.

Harvest Hope Food Bank provides emergency food to suffering and hungry individuals and families across 20 counties in South Carolina and is by far the largest food bank in the state, feeding more hungry people than any other charity organization. Harvest Hope depends on the enormous generosity and compassionate spirit of many individuals, civic groups, churches and businesses in our community to raise funds and donate food to help us feed the hungry in South Carolina.

Heathwood Hall is dedicated to fighting hunger in our community and serves as a partner with Harvest Hope for numerous food drives and fundraisers throughout the year. Deck the Hall is just one of the many events Heathwood Hall holds for Harvest Hope, which will result in the gift of food provided to our neighbors in need.

Deck the Hall participants will enjoy a beautiful walk/run on the Heathwood Hall cross-country trail near the banks of the Congaree River. Winding through the woods and around cornfields, the trail is a double loop that is mostly flat with the exception of a short, steep downhill and a single gentle uphill. The terrain is all grass and packed dirt, with trails marked and flagged to ensure participants get the most out of their run/walk. In addition, officials will be posted along the trail in case of emergency.

Medals will be awarded to the top 10 overall finishers and cash prizes will be given for the top three male and female overall finishers. The top three winners in each age category will also receive a prize.

Kids age 10 and under are also invited to participate by entering the Reindeer Fun Run, enjoying special activities and prizes for their participation.

Gates open at 7:00 a.m. with the first event beginning at 9:00 a.m. All festivities will wrap up around 11:00 a.m.

Heathwood Hall is honored to help Harvest Hope Food Bank this holiday season and encourages everyone to come out and support this great cause.
