Heathwood Collects 3,459 Pounds of Food for Harvest Hope!

Cool Can Sam visited Heathwood Hall to kickoff our annual Harvest Hope food drive, where the 18 large food bins around campus were quickly filled by students from all four divisions.

In the ECLC, students brought in canned goods as an offering during a chapel service.

In the Lower School, each classroom participated in the food drive - where first and second grade classrooms tie their efforts into their mathematics curriculum by counting and sorting.

After a presentation by Harvest Hope and a visit with Cool Can Sam, the Intermediate/Middle School students kicked off their food drive with collections taking place in their classrooms.

In the Upper School, the food drive is incorporated into the “spirit point” competition between advisories that are divided up into three large groups.

In total, our 2011 Harvest Hope Food drive yielded 3,459 pounds of food in just two weeks! In addition to collecting food, Heathwood was able to raise another $500 in donations for Harvest Hope from our Conference Day child care drop-in contributions.

As is the case every year, Harvest Hope greatly appreciates all of the food items (and diapers) that have been given to address the needs of many families throughout the Midlands.

Thank you, to all who helped make our food drive a success!!!
