Dr. Horak holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Akron. In addition, he has taught as an adjunct professor for Coker College and for the USC graduate school. He is an invited consultant and trainer for teaching institutes across the state and has presented at both state and national professional meetings. Dr. Horak has received advanced training by Project Adventure as an Adventure-based Counselor and serves as a ropes course facilitator for several educational institutions emphasizing the concepts of team building, goal setting, and problem solving.
In addition to his published dissertation on Adventure-based Counseling, Dr. Horak is a published author in the Journal of Individual Psychology and a contributing author in the textbook: Culture & Counseling: New Approaches. He has also authored a $6,000 grant funded by the State Department of Education.
Some of his professional affiliations include: The American Counseling Association; The International Association of Play Therapy, The SC Association of Play Therapy and the Association for Specialists in Group Work.
Additionally, Dr. Horak is a pilot and holds and advanced diving certificate. He also enjoys running, cycling, and riding motorcycles.

Mr. Ware has three years experience in academic counseling at the university level and twelve years experience in marriage & family counseling. In addition to his counseling duties, Mr. Ware is the Director of Community Relations at Heathwood Hall (community service & multi-cultural affairs).
