International Studies
Heathwood Hall Episcopal School has an abiding commitment to helping students understand and appreciate their part in our global society. A world perspective on education has long been a hallmark of the school as the program works to help students make meaningful connections with young people from other lands and cultures. Additionally, Heathwood Hall has been privileged to host students from 16 different countries, while sending our students and teachers to explore 26 foreign locales (and counting). Heathwood’s young people begin learning a foreign language as three-year-olds in nursery school and continue listening, speaking, reading, and writing another language until they graduate. In addition to providing language instruction, the school prepares students for global citizenship across divisions in courses that range from the humanities to the sciences.
ISDP
In May of 2008, five graduates became the first to earn Heathwood Hall’s International Studies diploma, which marks the culmination of the International Studies Diploma Program (ISDP), a challenging and directed course of study and co-curricular experiences that is designed to prepare students to be successful, compassionate and well-informed adults who are well-equipped to tackle the problems facing our diverse and increasingly interconnected world. Students are eligible to apply to the program in their freshman or sophomore year.
