Library - Special Events

Each year, the library sponsors a visiting author program. This program is designed to foster a love of reading and to introduce students to notable authors and illustrators of books for young people. Special guests have included Newbery Award winner Avi, Caldecott Honor recipient E.B. Lewis, and favorites such as Cynthia DeFelice, Will Hobbs, Johanna Hurwitz, and Chris Soenpiet. Other special events have included performances by Poetry Alive, a fairy tale celebration by Porkchop Productions, and magician Chad Crews who mystified audiences with illusions filled with references to favorite books and authors.
