Technology Program

History

As we enter the 21st century, educators must acknowledge that the use of technology will continue to become a more integral part of everyone's life. Heathwood Hall embraces educational technology and incorporates its use into virtually every aspect of school life. The current school year marks the 29th anniversary of computing at Heathwood Hall, a period that has seen the school grow from five TRS-80 computers for a one-semester class of seniors to more than 300 micro-computers connecting every student and faculty member in the school.

Today, Heathwood Hall boasts one of the top computer programs in the country. The school was honored as an "Apple Distinguished School" in 1997 for exemplary implementation of educational technology. Academic classes integrate computer use through multimedia reports and presentations, internet research and other technology-related activities. The school's long-range plans call for a continued emphasis on computer learning with the goal of preparing students for success in an increasingly information-based society.

Mission

To support the school's mission. To support the faculty, staff, students and parents with the use of technology in their pursuit of education. To work with faculty and students to integrate the use of technology in the ways they teach and learn.
