The Heathwood Experience
We invite you to explore our website to learn more about the unique journey that awaits each student at Heathwood - in classrooms, science and tinker labs, in art studios, on stages, playing fields, and climbing towers.
At Heathwood, you will find what you expect from a strong Episcopal school – innovative instruction from highly qualified teachers, a challenging curriculum featuring opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning both on and off campus, robust extracurricular offerings, proud traditions, and students who are well prepared for college and beyond. Our students thrive while creating not just successful lives, but lives of joy and meaning.
We encourage you to spend some time exploring our website, talking to students, parents, and alumni, and visiting our campus. What you will discover is a school culture and a student journey that go beyond the ordinary independent school experience. Heathwood is often described as a “school with a soul,” where young people learn to think critically and creatively, develop leadership and social skills, and put service to others over the pursuit of self-interest.
What truly distinguishes Heathwood will not be found fully in the descriptions of its curriculum or its extracurricular program. Heathwood’s spirit is found in the strength and warmth of its community, in everyday interactions between students and teachers, in our emphasis on ethical leadership, and in the way that we appreciate and celebrate our students.
The best way to get to know Heathwood is to visit our campus. Please call the Admission Office at 803.231.7719 to schedule a campus tour. We look forward to sharing our unique learning community with you.
