Heathwood At-a-Glance

Established in 1951 by the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School is an independent, college-preparatory, co-educational day school enrolling approximately 725 students age two through grade 12. Heathwood’s focus on developing the whole child, and its signature programs that offer exceptional opportunities for academic and personal growth cultivate tenacious, sophisticated thinkers who value service to others over self-interest. Our graduates are engaged, empathetic learners, prepared not only to take on a dynamic world but to transform it.

Heathwood Hall Episcopal School cultivates creative and critical thinking, develops leadership and social skills, and promotes service to others over the pursuit of self-interest through a rich academic and extracurricular program in a supportive community of talented educators and engaged students.

Heathwood fields 37 teams in 15 sports. Approximately 80% of Middle and Upper School students participate in the school’s athletics program, and, on average, about 10% of the students in each graduating class go on to compete at the college level. Student participation in Heathwood’s robust fine arts program, which includes theater productions and competitions, several choirs and bands, extensive opportunities for art studio time, a thriving coffeehouse scene, and a creative writing program, is also high. Extracurricular programs, including mock trial, Youth in Government, robotics, Trebuchet, math team, and more, are a center of excellence at Heathwood, with teams and individual students frequently winning championships and college scholarships.
