Boys Cross Country Wins Skyhawk Invitational
The Heathwood Boys Cross Country Team finished first out of 24 teams to win the Skyhawk Invitational Cross Country Meet at Hammond School on August 24.
In their first race of the season, the Highlanders were off to an impressive start, with eight runners setting personal records and seven more achieving their personal best time on the Hammond course.
The Highlanders were paced by junior Neb Sneath and sophomore Hugh Willcox, who finished in 4th and 5th places respectively. Junior Joe French, sophomore Robert Golden, junior Jack Cook, sophomore Ryan Shelley, and senior Baron Stanton rounded out the Highlanders' top seven. Junior Morgan Iseman finished in the top ten in the JV race, and 7th grader Noah Smith earned 2nd place overall in the Middle School race.
The strong start bodes well for the rest of the season, although Head Coach Cindy Scannella noted that two of the Highlanders' SCISA Region I competitors also finished in the top five.
