PEAK for Parents
At PEAK for Parents programs, adults have an opportunity to challenge themselves on the Odyssey course, Alpine Tower and initiative events at Adventure Base Camp (ABC) in the fall. During the spring, parents may enjoy pristine seclusion just a few miles from downtown Columbia, paddling canoes and kayaks in the cool waters of the Saluda River.
Wilderness First Aid Course
The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is a 2-day, 16-hour course offered by the Wilderness Medicine Institute of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). This course is the industry standard for individuals who spend significant time in backcountry settings either professionally or recreationally. Topics include patient assessment, long-term care, athletic injuries and environmental emergencies. Students participate in scenarios throughout the course in an effort to apply classroom ideals to a real life setting. The WFA course carries a 2-year certification and can be used to renew a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
The PEAK Program extends beyond the Heathwood community, offering contract programs in the areas of Leadership and Team Building, and Wilderness Exploration to community and corporate organizations including school and church groups, scouts and businesses. Programs are designed by the PEAK professional staff in cooperation with the contracting party so that programs meet specified goals and objectives for all participants.
