I/MS students will walk to raise funds for Harvest Hope Food Bank. Faculty, staff and parents are invited to join in the fun! We are thankful to be giving! Contact: Rich Edwards at firstname.lastname@example.org or for volunteer opportunities contact: Anastasia Manos at email@example.com To connect our students further with the need for food, learning about the issues that contribute to hunger in South Carolina, and to provide an opportunity for service, the I/MS will participate again this year in our 10th annual Turkey Trot, which is Tuesday, November 26, by GIVING our energy, GIVING our time, and GIVING our donations to Harvest Hope. The Turkey Trot is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26, from 9:00 a. m. - 11:45 a. m. on the track. The Turkey Trot is an opportunity for students “to walk the track to conquer hunger one lap at a time.” In previous years, students asked for pledges per mile, collecting the money after the event. We have found that we prefer asking for a donation as opposed to pledges based on laps walked, but we still enjoy the activity of walking as a community. Before the Turkey Trot, we ask the students to reach out to family members and friends to ask for donations to be given to Harvest Hope. With the information we share with the students, we hope it is an opportunity to practice speaking knowledgeably about Harvest Hope and our service learning component at school.
The play will include the following poems, and stories the 8th grade has read and studied in class: "The Raven," "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Monkey's Paw," "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," "The Necklace," and "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County."
Native American Day – All Day. Students in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades will be celebrating Native Americans with a day full of activities and outside resources: cave art, storytelling, Lacrosse, archery, flint knapping and skills.
