Friday, October 6, 2017

Heathwood seniors Jaelen King, Athreya Murali, and Amelia Robinson-Brown have been named 2017 National Merit Semifinalists, and seniors Olivia Moran and Emma Shealy have been recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars.

To earn Semifinalist status, students must have one of the top 16,000 scores on the PSAT, out of some 1.6 million students who take the test each year. These students go on to compete for National Merit Finalist awards, including college scholarships. Commended students are those who have scored in the top 50,000 nationwide.

Since its first graduating class in 1977, Heathwood has had 84 National Merit Finalists and more than 70 National Merit Commended Students.
