Four University of South Carolina Gamecocks--including two Heathwood alumnae--came to Middle School Town Hall on November 27 and shared advice about how to succeed in school and life.
The visiting athletes were Heathwood alumnae Savannah Hillmeyer, '17, a current member of the USC Swim Team; and Grace Smith, '13, former soccer goalie for William & Mary, who is currently pursuing a Masters in Sports Management at USC; along with USC Swimmer Jenna Pehowski and graduate student Chase Brennan, who wrestled at the University of Missouri as an undergrad.
The advice the athletes shared included:
--Surround yourself with good people
--Get involved in your school community
--Be where your feet are!
--Be tough - put your best into everything that you do.
--Build the best version of yourself each day.
--Everyone is valuable. Everyone can contribute. Everyone has a role.
--Don’t worry so much.
--Don’t be so hard on yourself.
--Be resilient. Work hard, keep the right frame of mind, and look at what you have accomplished.
--Take responsibility for what you do.
--Produce a good product by taking your time to create.
--Service helps others.
