Heathwood’s wrestling team had a phenomenal showing at the 2018 Individual State Championships, held on February 10. In addition to bringing home three individual state championships, every Highlander who competed placed in the top three in his weight class.
Heathwood’s three State Champions are 9th grader AJ Kuse and 8th grader Myles Roberts, both winning for the first time, and 11th grader Reagan Olsen, winning for the second year in a row.
Sophomore Darius Bates was State Runner-up in his weight class, and 8th graders McIver Merritt and William Fewell, and 7th grader Pierce Averyall finished in 3rd place.
Reagan Olsen was also named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.
With so much young talent on display, the future is bright for Highlander Wrestling!
