Six US Students Train as Diversity Leaders

Monday, December 7, 2020

Six Heathwood Upper School students took part in the 2020 NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference, spending the week of Dec. 1-4 working with fellow independent school students from across the nation to develop cross-cultural communication skills, learn how to design effective strategies for social justice practice, and more.

The participating students were Justin Ansley, Annie Benoit, Allison Davis, Genevieve Marterer, Liam Quan, and Myles Roberts. Their faculty mentors were Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Willis Ware and Events Coordinator and Head Women's Basketball Coach Brionna Zimmerman, '05.

Heathwood was selected from among several thousand NAIS member schools nationwide to participate in the conference, which took place virtually this year due to pandemic-related safety restrictions.
