Upper School Trench Project Reenacts World War I Christmas Truce

Monday, December 10, 2018

Heathwood students and faculty held their 3rd annual “Silent Night: The Christmas Truce of 1914” on the evening of December 7 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Using the meticulously designed replicas of trenches along the Western Front of World War I that have been created by history teacher John Adams and his students in the woods across from the Middle School, the reenactment told the story of a remarkable moment of peace amidst the First World War.

Students and faculty played the parts of soldiers, nurses, refugees, and others impacted by the action along the Western Front. Tours took place at regular intervals throughout the evening.
