After-School Supervision for 5th and 6th Graders

The Heathwood Hall Extended Learning team provides after-school supervision through its Afternoon Express (AE) program which prides itself on delivering outstanding care and engaging experiences beyond the school day. AE runs from  3:15 - 6:00 p.m.

Students in 5th and 6th grade who stay after school will experience the following after-school schedule, designed to support both academic growth, social development, and activities that complement the curricular goals of the school.

Location
On Monday through Thursday, from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., students can choose to attend extra help in their teacher’s classroom or join a supervised study hall in the Dining Commons.  On Fridays, students will meet under the Nord and use some of their time for homework or socialize with their peers under the supervision of the Afternoon Express staff.

Supervised AE Study Hall
A Middle School teacher and two members of the Afternoon Express team supervise the study hall from 3:15 - 4:30 and help maintain a respectful, productive environment. Middle School teachers are encouraged to communicate with the AE team to support student learning and engagement.

Athletics

Fifth- and sixth-grade students participating in Heathwood Hall interscholastic athletics will be provided a free, supervised study hall from the end of the school day until practice begins, if practice starts after 3:45 p.m. This allows students time to attend extra help sessions or begin their homework in the Dining Commons before practice.

Cost
Starting at 3:30 p.m., a $15-per-hour fee will be applied to students not participating in athletics.
