Curriculum
Early Childhood to Middle School
Theater begins early at Heathwood. Students are introduced to drama in the Early Childhood and Lower School years through classroom experiences that foster creativity, confidence, and expression. Beginning in fifth grade, all students take formal drama classes that continue through eighth grade, where they explore:
- Acting and improvisation
- Script work and character development
- Stage presence and collaboration
Students have the chance to perform in Middle School productions and all-school plays, gaining valuable on-stage experience.
Upper School Theater
Upper School students (grades 9–12) can continue their theatrical journey through elective drama classes and an array of performance and production opportunities, including:
- Upper School and all-school stage productions
- Roles in technical theater and backstage crew
- Participation in statewide festivals and competitions
The Heathwood Theater Program cultivates self-expression, teamwork, and artistic excellence — on and off the stage.
