Heathwood Celebrates Ribbon Cutting of “The Den” Golf Facility
Heathwood Hall Episcopal School proudly celebrated the ribbon cutting of “The Den,” its new state-of-the-art, on-campus golf practice facility, on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Thanks to the generosity of Heathwood parents Chris and Jason Wolfe, P ‘29 & ‘32, this one-of-a-kind facility is located adjacent to the Boyd PEAK Center on the west side of Heathwood’s 122-acre campus. Designed by world-renowned golf architect Craig Schreiner, “The Den” provides Heathwood’s golfers and students with opportunities typically reserved for collegiate and professional programs.
Head of School Chris Hinchey shared that the facility, like so many others on campus, will provide another venue at which students can pursue excellence, share memorable and important moments with their classmates and enjoy the natural setting of our unique and special campus.
The facility features a 360-degree target green for pitching and chipping, four synthetic tee boxes, an artificial turf putting green, two bunkers, a 100-yard pitching runway, and a 150-yard distance from primary tee box to the green. Beyond athletic training, it also offers unique hands-on learning opportunities in areas such as agronomy, sustainability, architecture, and engineering.
“This new space would not be possible without the generosity and vision of Chris and Jason Wolfe and the Wolfe family…This is an amazing addition to our campus that will benefit our current students and those to come for decades,” said Chris Hinchey, Head of School. ”
Heathwood Hall extends its gratitude to all of the generous donors and partners who made this project possible, including Chris and Jason Wolfe, Ryan Horton of Indigo Construction, Chip Clarkson of Palmetto Green Landscaping, Inc., Ethan Hart of Strategis Engineering, Thomas Livoti of Apex Turf, Charlie Humphries ‘93 of Garden Restoration, and The Heathwood Hall Board of Trustees.
The Den is the first golf complex of its kind at a PreK–12 school and stands as a pioneering model for future educational institutions. Heathwood Hall is thrilled to officially open this facility and looks forward to the impact it will have on generations of Highlander golfers.
