Athletics Overview

Inspiring Passions and preparing Foundations for college

The goal of the athletic program is to provide an opportunity for all students to experience the exhilaration of competing both as an individual and as a team, and to excel to the best of their abilities. The program is an integral part of the Heathwood Hall education, and students who take advantage of the varied athletic opportunities become not spectators but participants.

Excellence and winning are important to any competitive program, and no one enjoys being part of a losing organization. It is clear that success breeds success and brings with it a tremendous pride and spirit to a school community. It is important that we are able to accept losing; we learn from all our mistakes. However, we should never be indifferent about the outcome of our efforts. We need to teach our student athletes that the most significant measure and standard for performance is not in winning, but in giving the best one has to offer to your team and yourself.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Highlander Club is to promote and further the overall objectives of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School by means of fund raising activities to meet special needs of the extracurricular activities of the school; to stimulate and encourage participation in extra-curricular activities; and to conduct promotion activities in furtherance of these objectives.

Making a Difference

The Highlander Club is the athletic booster for Heathwood Hall. It organizes spirit events for all school divisions.

The Highlander Club members stay busy throughout the year volunteering their time and expertise to support our athletes through a variety of community-building, spirit and fundraising activities. Our members along with athletic team parents sell concessions at sporting events and tournaments. Additionally, advertisement opportunities are offered on our sports program, our athletics website, the digital video board, and mobile concessions unit. The Highlander Club proudly produces The Highlander, the fall and winter sports program for athletics. At the beginning of the school year the Club host an annual social, honoring its members and the athletic coaches. Each Winter the Club hosts The Wild Game Dinner. Membership in the Highlander Club is open to all parents, grandparents, students, alumni, and friends.

The booster club assists the school in purchasing athletic equipment and facility enhancements that benefits every Heathwood student. Initiatives are paid through an allocation process administered by the Highlander Club Board. During the last five years over $500,000 has been allocated to funding initiatives to better serve our students.

Each year, several Highlanders continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Below is a list of Heathwood alumni currently competing in  NCAA Division I, II or III Collegiate Athletics.
