Three reasons to spend the summer with Heathwood:

  1. Programs for Everyone
Heathwood Summer Programs have been thoughtfully crafted to be developmentally appropriate for all students from ages two through grade twelve. While students are engaged with STEM, sports, arts & crafts, academic enrichment, and adventure, we are mindful to support their physical, social, and emotional growth. The best part is that you can pair any morning and afternoon camps to appeal to your child’s diverse interests.
  2. Campus Amenities
Located just minutes from downtown Columbia with easy access to I-77 and I-26, Heathwood’s buildings sprawl across 122 acres of wooded wetlands. It is a hidden environmental oasis that is truly one of the best-kept secrets in the southeast. Gardens, playgrounds, athletic fields, a ropes course, art studios, and innovative classrooms are waiting for you to explore!
  3. Convenience
Heathwood's Summer Programs are as convenient for parents as they are fun for children. Heathwood's bucolic campus campus is fewer than fifteen minutes from downtown Columbia. We offer hot lunches daily, and families can choose exactly which weeks they would like to sign up for à la carte. For most camps, attendees need only to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

For over 27 years, Allison’s passion has been early childhood education.  She started her career at Hood Street Elementary on Fort Jackson and then Forest Lake Elementary in the administrative office.  She began teaching at St. Martin’s in the Fields Drop-In Nursery and then continued at Kilbourne Park Day School, where she was a teacher and then the Assistant Director.  From there she was the Assistant Director of Eastminster Day School before coming to Heathwood first as the Director of Summer Programs and Assistant Director of Extended Learning and, since 2020, as Director of Summer Learning.  Her love of children even extends to running a summer camp for over 10 years called F.I.T.S. Camp (Fun In The Summer). Many of her former campers are now Heathwood students.

Allison is a member of St. Martin's in the Fields and Coralbell Garden Club. She and her husband Neil have been married for 21 years and have four children. In her spare time she loves gardening, hiking, riding bikes, going to the beach and mountains and is looking forward to her first grandchild due this August.
