A Space for Bea: Honoring the Life and Legacy of Kelly Bulak ’09

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the Heathwood Hall community gathered to celebrate the life of Kelly “Bea” Bulak ’09 and to dedicate a new student gathering space on campus in her memory. Kelly, who passed away in November 2021 after a courageous battle with lung cancer, left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Alumni, faculty, friends, and family came together to honor Kelly’s joyful spirit, share stories, and reflect on the enduring impact she made during her time at Heathwood and beyond.

“Kelly had a contagious smile. Every time I think of her, I see her smile,” said Nadège Keller, Middle and Upper School French teacher and World Language Department Chair. “She had a bubbly personality—always happy, always positive.”

The new space serves as a tribute to Kelly’s warmth, kindness, and the connections she so effortlessly nurtured. It will be a place for students to gather, connect, and carry forward the joyful energy that Kelly brought to every room she entered.
